Nine Men's Morris - The Rules

Nine Men's Morris is a strategy board game for two players, each starting with nine pieces. In this version you play with the white pieces against the computer.

The game starts with an empty board. In the first phase, the players take turns placing their pieces on empty intersections of the board.

After all the pieces have been placed, the game enters its second phase, where a move consists of sliding one of your own pieces to an adjacent empty intersection.

Whenever a player forms a mill - three of their pieces in a row along one of the board's lines - they remove one opponent piece of their choice. A piece that is part of a mill can only be removed when all the opponent's pieces are part of mills.

A player who is left with fewer than three pieces, or who has no valid move available, loses the game.

If the exact same position occurs for the third time, with the same player to move each time, the game ends in a draw.

Nine Men's Morris - How to Play

To place a piece on the board, drag it from your reserve at the top of the board and drop it over any empty spot.

Once all the pieces have been placed, perform a move by dragging one of your pieces from the board to a neighboring empty spot.

When you form a mill, the opponent's pieces start pulsating: click the one you want to remove from the board.
